How we brought Hammer Contractor's organic traffic from 90 monthly visitors to 1000 monthly visitors in only 6 Months using SEO and AEO Optimization
Organic traffic from Google and AI is now the highest traffic source for Hammer Contractor's website - beating paid advertising, social media, direct traffic, and all other sources

Hammer Contractors Had The Experience, Reputation, And Portfolio — But Their Website Was Not Getting Found Like It Should
Hammer Design Build Remodel had been helping homeowners in Washington, DC and Montgomery County love their homes for over 20 years, but their online visibility did not match the quality of their work. They had the portfolio, testimonials, services, and reputation, but their website was buried under technical SEO problems, weak structure, and content that was not helping Google, AI, or real homeowners understand why Hammer should be trusted.
Greg had already worked with SEO companies before and had been promised results that never really came. So when he came to Frisco Web Agency, the issue was not just “we need more traffic.” The bigger issue was trust. He needed a partner who could actually diagnose the problems, explain the plan clearly, and do the real implementation work needed to move the website forward.
- Organic traffic had been stuck around 98 visitors per month
- Ahrefs website audit score was in the 20s
- Sitemap had 4,000+ URLs, mostly unnecessary image pages
- Google was wasting crawl attention on pages that did not matter
- 200+ blog articles were low quality and not strategically optimized
- Some blog articles had raw HTML showing inside the content
- Almost no internal linking throughout the website
- Important service pages were not being supported properly
- Not showing up well for AI search, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Grok
- Previous SEO companies had created skepticism because they promised results but did not deliver
Hammer did not need another SEO company that would send reports and hope something worked. They needed a trusted SEO and AEO partner who could clean up the foundation, improve the content, fix the structure, and help their website finally reflect the quality of the company behind it.

Frisco Web Agency Rebuilt Hammer’s SEO And AEO Foundation So Their Website Could Finally Start Growing
Before making changes, we started with a premium SEO audit and deep research into Hammer’s website, competitors, keywords, services, service areas, and technical issues. We wanted to understand what was actually holding the website back before jumping into implementation.
From there, Frisco Web Agency created and executed a six-month SEO and AEO campaign focused on cleaning up the website, strengthening the content, improving internal linking, fixing technical SEO issues, and helping Hammer show up better on Google and AI.
- SEO Audit: Completed a premium SEO audit reviewing Hammer’s website, competitors, keywords, sitemap, content, service pages, and technical SEO issues.
- Technical SEO: Cleaned up the sitemap, removed unnecessary image attachment pages, fixed WordPress SEO issues, and helped Google focus on the pages that actually mattered.
- Content Strategy: Rewrote core website pages, service pages, town pages, and blog articles so the content was more helpful, keyword-focused, and built for real homeowners.
- SEO / AEO: Added FAQs, improved page structure, optimized for answer-based searches, and helped Hammer show up on AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Grok.
- Internal Linking: Built a stronger internal linking structure so blog articles, service pages, town pages, portfolio pages, and consultation pages could support each other.
- Local SEO: Created around 20 strategic town pages for the areas Hammer actually serves, including Washington, DC, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, and Montgomery County.
- Metadata & Schema: Improved meta titles, meta descriptions, schema data, and search result structure across the website.
- Keyword Strategy: Built keyword spreadsheets based on Hammer’s domain strength and targeted low-competition, mid-range, and high-value remodeling keywords.
Frisco Web Agency helped Hammer move from a website that was stuck and technically messy into a stronger SEO and AEO foundation.
Here are some of the results Hammer Contractors won after partnering with Frisco Web Agency.
After working with Hammer on a 6-month SEO and AEO campaign, we helped take a website that had been stuck for years and turned it into a stronger digital foundation built for Google, AI search, and qualified remodeling leads.

Before & After SEO Growth
From Stuck For Years To Finally Moving In The Right Direction
Before working with Frisco Web Agency, Hammer’s website had been sitting around the same traffic level for years. The company had the experience, portfolio, and reputation, but the website’s SEO foundation was holding it back from being found by more homeowners on Google and AI.
After cleaning up the sitemap, rewriting content, improving internal links, adding town pages, optimizing service pages, and strengthening the website for SEO and AEO, the growth finally started to show. Organic traffic climbed from around 90 monthly visitors to over 1,000, impressions grew into the millions, and Hammer started showing up in more of the searches that actually matter.

Hammer Contractors: Building a Digital Foundation as Strong as Their Homes
Sometimes, the most incredible projects don’t start in a boardroom with spreadsheets and projections. They start over a cup of coffee. They start in the most unassuming places, like a church lobby, where conversations about life and faith and family slowly turn into conversations about dreams and business and the things that keep you up at night.
That’s exactly how our journey with Hammer Contractors began.
My wife and I were attending this amazing church in Dallas called Upper Room, and it was there we met Greg Buitrago and his family. Greg wasn't just another guy at church; he was one of those people you meet once and never forget. He and his wife became mentors to us, leaders we looked up to. We’d grab coffee, hang out at their house, and just do life together. And through that time, I got to know Greg’s mind.
If you’ve ever listened to someone like Alex Hormozi talk—the way he dissects ideas, builds frameworks, and connects dots nobody else sees—you have a glimpse into how Greg operates. Now, imagine that same razor-sharp intellect and relentless diligence, but rooted in a deep, unwavering faith. Greg is intentional, he’s wise, and he doesn’t waste a single word. To this day, I can honestly say I’ve never met anyone quite like him. He’s the real deal.
I looked up to him immensely, and eventually, he found out what I did for a living—that I ran this little company called Frisco Web Agency, where we build websites and get them seen by the right people. And in a beautiful turn of events, the mentee got to help the mentor. Greg started picking my brain, not just about my business, but for his business. He helped me break down my own processes, from marketing and service design to client onboarding and revenue generation. It was a masterclass in business strategy, and hilariously, there were moments I felt like he knew more about marketing than I did.
But there was one area where I had the home-field advantage: websites and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
And that’s where the real story begins.
The Character with a Problem: An Award-Winning Firm Lost in the Digital Noise
Hammer Design Build Remodel isn't just a contracting company. They are artisans. For over 20 years, they’ve been transforming homes across Washington D.C. and Montgomery County, MD—places like Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac. They’re an award-winning, high-end, design-build firm that creates sophisticated, breathtaking living spaces. Their portfolio is jaw-dropping. Their testimonials bring a tear to your eye. They had a National Top 50 Customer Service Excellence Award.
In the physical world, they were giants.
But online? They were nearly invisible.
This was their core problem. Greg, being the data-driven leader he is, knew something was fundamentally broken with his digital presence. He knew that for a company of their caliber, their online footprint was disproportionately small. The phone wasn't ringing from Google searches. High-value homeowners in Georgetown and Spring Valley weren't discovering their stunning portfolio through a simple search.
The External Problem: Digital Stagnation
When we dug in, the numbers told a story of profound stagnation. For over five years—five years!—their website's organic traffic was stuck. It hovered around a meager 98 visitors per month. Their organic traffic value, a metric from the SEO tool Ahrefs that estimates the cost of that traffic if you paid for it via Google Ads, was a paltry $185. They were getting about 1,170 impressions a month, which sounds like a lot until you realize it means thousands of people were scrolling right past them in the search results without ever clicking.
They had a beautiful, expensive website, a blog filled with articles, and a reputation for excellence, yet none of it was translating into digital growth. Their online presence was a beautiful home with no doors or windows—impossible for new people to get into.
The Internal Problem: The Ghost of SEOs Past
The numbers were the external problem, but the real, gut-level issue for Greg was internal. It was a deep-seated skepticism and frustration. Like so many business owners, he had been burned before. He’d hired multiple SEO agencies over the years, each one promising the moon. They’d talk a big game about keywords and rankings, send a few boilerplate reports, and cash his checks. But the results never came. The needle never moved.
He was tired of throwing good money after bad. He was tired of empty promises. He’s a man who values integrity and excellence, and the SEO industry had shown him very little of either. This history created a massive barrier of distrust. He knew he needed effective lead generation from his website, but he had lost faith that anyone could actually deliver it. He felt stuck, frustrated, and wary of being let down one more time.
Meets a Guide: A Shared Understanding and a Different Path
This is where our relationship made all the difference. Because Greg knew me, he knew my character. He knew I wouldn't sell him snake oil. During our conversations, he started picking my brain specifically about SEO. What was our process? How did we approach keyword research? What did a technical SEO audit actually involve?
He saw that our approach wasn’t about magic tricks or secret formulas. It was about diligence, strategy, and transparency—the very things he valued in his own business. We didn’t promise him the #1 spot overnight. Instead, we offered him a plan rooted in clarity.
We proposed starting with our Premium SEO Audit. This wasn’t a free, automated report that spits out generic advice. This was a deep, methodical, human-led investigation into every corner of his digital world. We told him, "Let us go on an expedition. We'll map the entire terrain—your website, your competitors, the market—and come back with a detailed plan of action. You'll see everything we see."
He took a chance on us. It was a huge leap of faith, trusting us to be the guide who could finally lead him out of the digital wilderness.
Gives Them a Plan: From Digital Chaos to a Blueprint for Dominance
The audit was… illuminating. We took the 10 competitors he gave us and put them under a digital microscope. We analyzed their backlink profiles, their top-performing content, and the keywords that were driving their business. We dove into the search behavior of homeowners in his specific service areas. We weren’t just looking for data; we were looking for the story the data was telling us.
And the story of Hammer’s website was one of massive, untapped potential being suffocated by critical technical and strategic errors. When we presented our findings to Greg, it was like turning on the lights in a cluttered, dark room. Here’s what we found:
1. The Sitemap Catastrophe: A 4,000-Page Maze
This was the biggest culprit. A website's sitemap is like a map you hand to Google, showing it all the important pages you want it to look at. Hammer’s sitemap had over 4,000 pages listed. But here’s the kicker: their actual website only had about 200 pages that mattered (services, portfolio, about, etc.).
So what were the other 3,800+ pages? They were individual image attachment pages. Every single photo on their website was creating its own page, and the sitemap was telling Google, "Hey, please come index this JPEG of a kitchen cabinet!"
This was devastating for their SEO performance. Google has a "crawl budget"—it only has so much time and resources to spend on any given site. Instead of focusing its energy on their high-value "Kitchen Remodeling in Bethesda" page, it was getting lost in a labyrinth of useless image pages. The 200 important pages weren't being prioritized, and as a result, they weren't ranking.
2. The Content Conundrum: The ChatGPT Invasion
To build out his site's "foundation," Greg had commissioned over 200 blog articles generated entirely by ChatGPT. While the intention was good—to create content and demonstrate topical authority—the execution was a disaster.
- AI Tells, It Doesn't Show: The content was generic, lacked the expert voice of a seasoned remodeler, and offered no unique insights. It was SEO filler, not valuable information for a discerning homeowner about to invest six figures in a renovation.
- Broken Code Everywhere: Worse yet, the raw HTML from the AI generator had been pasted directly into a rich text field in the website builder, not a proper HTML embed. This meant that many of the blog posts were displaying raw, ugly code to visitors. It was a terrible user experience and a massive red flag for search engines.
3. The House with No Hallways: Zero Internal Linking
A strong website structure is built on internal links—links from one page on your site to another. They guide users and search engines to your most important content. Hammer's website had virtually zero internal linking. The blog posts didn't link to service pages. The service pages didn't link to relevant portfolio projects. It was a collection of beautiful rooms with no hallways connecting them. This prevented the flow of "link equity" or "SEO juice" through the site and left their most important money-making pages isolated and weak.
4. The Weak Foundation: Low Domain Authority
With all these issues combined, their Ahrefs Domain Rating (a score of website authority) was languishing between 10-15. They had very few high-quality referring domains or backlinks pointing to their site. In the eyes of Google, they lacked authority and trustworthiness.
The Strategic Blueprint for a Turnaround
We didn't just dump these problems on Greg's desk. We presented a clear, step-by-step, six-month plan to not just fix the issues, but to build a dominant digital presence that reflected his company's real-world excellence.
- Phase 1: Technical SEO Triage & Foundation Repair:
- Sitemap Surgery: Our first priority was to perform radical surgery on the sitemap. Through some custom development work to wrangle his WordPress plugins, we stripped it down from 4,000+ URLs to the essential ~200 pages. This was like giving Google a clean, easy-to-read map directly to the treasure.
- Schema & Meta Optimization: We went through every single page and improved the meta titles, descriptions, and implemented robust schema markup. This is the structured data that helps Google understand the content and context of a page, leading to richer search results (like FAQs, star ratings, etc.).
- Phase 2: A Content & Keyword Revolution:
- Strategic Keyword Research: We built out spreadsheets of high-value keywords. Recognizing their domain authority was low, we didn't just chase the super-competitive terms. We built a multi-tiered strategy:
- Foundation (0-15 Keyword Difficulty): Target low-competition, long-tail keywords to get quick wins and build momentum.
- Growth (15-25 Keyword Difficulty): Target mid-range keywords that they could realistically rank for as their authority grew.
- Aspiration (60+ Keyword Difficulty): Sprinkle in the high-value, high-competition keywords to plant the seeds for future dominance.
- Content Overhaul & Humanization: We completely rewrote the core website pages and the individual service pages, infusing them with the strategic keywords. Most importantly, we overhauled all 200+ blog articles. We didn't just edit them; we reimagined them with a human-first approach, expert insights, real project images, and a voice that sounded like the master craftsmen they are.
- Strategic Keyword Research: We built out spreadsheets of high-value keywords. Recognizing their domain authority was low, we didn't just chase the super-competitive terms. We built a multi-tiered strategy:
- Phase 3: Building Digital Hallways & Local Dominance:
- Comprehensive Internal Linking: We implemented a site-wide internal linking strategy. Every page now had at least eight relevant internal links pointing to it, creating a powerful web that distributed authority and guided users seamlessly through the site. Blog posts now funneled readers to service pages, and service pages showcased stunning portfolio examples.
- Hyper-Local Town Pages: We built out 20 strategic, high-value town pages. These weren't spammy, duplicate pages. Each one was a unique resource for homeowners in a specific area (e.g., "Whole Home Renovations in Chevy Chase," "Bathroom Remodeling in Potomac"), filled with locally relevant information and project highlights. This was a massive play for local SEO dominance.
- Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): We strategically added FAQ sections throughout the entire website, optimized to answer the specific questions their potential clients were asking Google. This wasn't just for traditional SEO; it was a forward-thinking move to get them featured in AI-powered search results. We were optimizing for Google, but also for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Grok.
This was our plan. A meticulous, multi-faceted strategy to transform his website from a digital liability into his most powerful lead generation engine. Greg saw the diligence, he understood the logic, and he gave us the green light.
The Climax: The Transformation and What Success Looks Like
We executed the plan over six months, from June 2025 to December 2025. And as any good remodeler knows, the results aren't always immediate. You have to lay the foundation, frame the walls, and run the electrical before you can see the beauty of the finished product. SEO is the same. The first few months were about deep, foundational work.
Then, the magic started to happen. The digital renovation started to take shape.
The results weren't just good; they were transformative. They were a testament to what happens when you pair a great company with a great digital strategy.
The "Before" Snapshot (June 2025):
- Organic Traffic: 98 / month
- Organic Traffic Value: $185
- Monthly Impressions: 1,170
- Keywords in Top 3: 8
The "After" Snapshot (and still climbing in May 2026):
- Organic Traffic: 1,000+ / month (a more than 10X increase!)
- Organic Traffic Value: $663+
- Monthly Impressions: 58,950 (a 50X increase in visibility!)
- Keywords in Top 3: Over 50
The results go even deeper. Our focus on Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) paid off spectacularly. Before, they had zero visibility on AI platforms. After our work, Hammer Contractors was showing up everywhere:
- ChatGPT: Over 160 different searches
- Grok: Over 70 different searches
- Gemini: Over 30 different searches
- Perplexity: Over 25 different searches
They became a go-to source for AI-powered answers about home remodeling in the D.C. area. Their off-page authority exploded as well. As a natural result of the high-quality content and clean site structure, their referring domains increased by 35 and their total backlinks grew by over 70.
We took a website that was lost, broken, and stagnant and turned it into a high-performance machine that perfectly represented the quality of their real-world work.
But the most important result isn't a number on a Google Analytics dashboard. It’s the quote from one of their own clients that perfectly sums up the transformation Greg experienced with us:
“We felt like we were working with one consolidated team throughout the entire process. We knew exactly what to expect along the way and that made us give us comfort... We weren't living with anxiety.”
That’s it. We took away the anxiety. For the first time, Greg had a digital marketing partner he could trust. He had clarity. He had a plan that worked. He saw tangible, mind-blowing results that were actually impacting his bottom line. The success was so profound that we’re now gearing up for another six-month campaign to take them to even greater heights.
Our journey with Hammer Contractors is a perfect picture of what we do at Frisco Web Agency. It started with a relationship, was built on a foundation of trust and transparency, and resulted in a life-changing transformation for a business we deeply admire.
If you’re a business owner who feels like Greg did—frustrated, skeptical, and stuck with a website that isn't pulling its weight—I want you to know there’s a better way. You don’t have to live with the anxiety of the unknown.
Let’s grab a virtual coffee. Let’s start a conversation. And let’s build something incredible together.
