SEO Optimization

Did you know that 93% of online experiences start with a search engine? And more than 90% of those users are using Google’s search engine! So what is SEO? SEO is the process of optimizing your website for search engine discovery. This acts as a 24hr salesman! No matter what location, time, or day; your customers can find your business if you have good SEO. Here are some other reasons why SEO is important for your business:

Increases Traffic

If your website has good SEO, your website traffic will increase. This is usually the main reason why companies hire experts to optimize their site’s SEO. Consider this: nearly 33% of clicks in a search engine go to the first ranking page. . . which is a HUGE asset for any business. The first five listings on google get over 75% of all clicks for the searched word, term, or phrase. When was the last time you scrolled through a whole search results page let alone going to page 2?

Huge ROI

When your website is optimized for search engines, the ROI is huge. Although it may be tough to get to a good ranking by yourself without an expert, it’s definitely worth the money. We’ll go over some strategies you can use to increase your SEO rankings without hiring an expert. Just know, you will have some limitations.

Brand Awareness

With high SEO rankings, your brand will have a lot of exposure at the top of search engine results for your keywords. This will give your brand more credibility too because consumers trust search engines so, if you're at the top, you are the best option for them! Many companies rely solely on SEO marketing to build site traffic and brand awareness.

The Competition Is Doing It

Your competitors are doing it. . . so why shouldn’t you? If you don’t do it, your competitors will steal your customers and your money. Also, if your competitors aren’t doing it, then this is the time for you to do it! Either way, you need to be doing SEO to grow your business and generate more revenue.

Yes, you heard me right, it’s free! All you have to do is have a good strategy, understand how to execute the strategy, then execute it! It can cost money if you choose to have an expert do it for you, but you can do it yourself if you choose to.

How To Optimize Your SEO

Now that we know why you need SEO, I want to go over exactly how you can optimize your SEO. These things I am going to recommend can be done by you or your developer. Stick with me and I’ll keep it as simple as possible, don’t be intimidated. Step-by-step instructions.

Understand What SEO Is

This is a fundamental step in optimizing your website for SEO. Whenever you have your website created, create any content on your website, lead customers to a specific page on your website, always have these four things in mind about search engines, you need to:

  1. Serve the best possible content for your audience
  2. Create a positive website user experience
  3. Prioritize VALUABLE content on your website
  4. Make sure your load times are quick. If not, trim off those fancy interactions, animations, and none of your images should be over 500kb!

If you want to get better SEO rankings, you need to make the user experience the main priority of your website functionality. Google’s algorithm is smart and if you have a horrible user experience on your website, your rankings will plummet. Don’t let this happen, focus on UI.

I’m sure you’ve heard this mentioned anytime you hear about ads, marketing, or SEO. Keywords are words, terms, or phrases that better describe what a user is searching for. So if you have a fitness company; the keywords you may want to rank for are Fat Loss, Weight Loss, Supplements, Diet Program, Workout Routine, etc. Take some time out of your day to study good keywords for your business. If you don’t know how to do this, that’s OKAY. Go to ubersuggest and use Neil Patel’s tool for research. Am I crazy for sending you to a tool from a different marketer. . . maybe, BUT this is an amazing keyword tool that I know will help your business grow and generate more revenue. Here’s how it works:

  1. In the search bar (where it says “Discover new keywords”), type in a work you think would be good for your business and click SEARCH
  2. Ubersuggest will generate hundreds of keywords related to your search. Here, you can study each keyword and find one that’s right for your business and is not too competitive.
  3. Now, choose keywords! The keywords you should choose are the ones with a High Volume: Low CPC (if you will be doing paid ads): Low Paid Difficulty (if you will be doing paid ads): Low SEO Difficulty ratio. Once you find 5 good keywords, write them down and save them for later.

With the keywords you have written down, you need to add them in places on your website. If you have access to your website’s code then the first thing you need to do is use your keywords in your website’s metadata. Title tags, meta descriptions, and your meta keywords tag. Don’t overdo it here though, make sure that the title and description still make sense and you aren’t just copying and pasting these keywords on all your meta tags. It’s okay if you don’t type all your keywords, just make sure it makes sense wherever you do type them. Also, be extra careful with the title tags, for example, Google says that your FAQ page’s title tag needs to be labeled FAQ. Don’t try to add keywords there! Google will count that as a bad UI experience and you’ll lose precious rankings.

The next place to add keywords is in your website’s content. Headers, subheaders, text, and link text. Again, make sure that wherever you are putting these keywords, it needs to make sense.

Some bonus places you can put keywords are breadcrumbs (links to where your visitors are on your website), alt descriptions on images and videos, title attributes, and embed files names. That’s right, make sure that what you name the files that are uploaded onto your site actually makes sense!

Grow Your Organic Traffic

This is obvious but not a lot of businesses pay as much attention to this as they should. Instead of focusing on paid advertising, which can add up fast, grow your organic traffic to your website. Statistics show that organic traffic leads to a sale nearly 15% of the time while paid traffic closes at less than 2%.

On your social media platforms, make sure that you always have your website link in an accessible location such as your bio. If you have multiple links, try using Linktree so that you can add others.

Whenever you make content to post on platforms, give the consumers a call to action at the end leading them to your website. If you don’t do it in the video, make sure to put it in your description.

Analyze Your Website Data

If your website has analytics, which it should, you need to analyze those analytics! For example, if you have a CTA in the nav of your website and people aren’t clicking it, then there is a problem! Go through your site’s analytics, select the things you want to improve such as button clicks, diagnose why they aren’t clicking the button, solve the problem yourself or communicate with your developer. This should be done on a set schedule to make sure that your website is always performing as it should be.
